Once Jim has saddled up and set off for the southern half of the farm, Katherine wanders the barn, a bit helplessly, for a moment or two.
She glances in Cortez's stall. The horse cranes his neck and gazes back at her, snorting softly.
Her eyes narrow.
"Bad horse."
