OOM: New Mexico [private thoughts]
Sep. 15th, 2007 06:49 pmThere's something that the tension a fight brings that raises your mental state into a greater level of awareness. Doc did not want this. Doc did not want to be here again.
Doc wanted to go home to New York, and get away from this.
His wife. His son.
His family.
But no. They were going to take the Mexican Blackbird to Mexico. They were going to disappear into Old Mexico and he'd send someone to get his wife and son. Leaving behind the life he'd started. The respectable, normal life. His boys that he was teaching. The school that had taken him in with the little information he could give them. They'd trusted him.
Doc did not want this.
He was not an outlaw. But the words rung in his ears.
"I've seen you kill, Doc! You killed half the men I got credit for! I've seen you kill!"
It was something he couldn't escape. So the anger sat inside of him.
Damn you, William H. Bonney. Damn you and your crazy ideas, damn you and your glory seeking attitude and your cocky nature and damn you you sonovabitch.
