[after highways]
The first thing that Doc notices when they step into the ticketing area is the long hallway that stretches down the center of the wide room, and all the signs and screens that tell people to head this way or go that way depending on what they're doing. He's boggling a little bit, but he manages to keep his mouth shut by some miracle of self-restraint, following Kate towards a ticket counter.
"...so we gotta check-in first, right?"
(Thankfully, that won't be as much of an issue as it could have been - when he'd packed his bag a few days ago back at Milliways, Bar had slipped in a wallet with properly-exchanged cash as well as a photo ID. The night he noticed it in his bag, he'd spent a few minutes staring at the Colorado driver's license, not understanding why she picked that state out of all of them - until he realized that maybe it was a sign of things to come. A place to call home.)
After they check their luggage and collect their boarding passes and tickets, they head towards the line for the security checkpoint down the hall. He's reading over the information on the little folder and glancing between Kate (to make sure she isn't walking off in another direction when he's distracted) and the people around them (to make sure he's not going to run into anyone) as they walk.
"Y'know I promise t'stop sayin' this eventually, but I really appreciate you doin' this, Kate."
