The hotel room is pretty empty, and small, but Doc doesn't care. All his stuff is in Milliways anyways. They walk out of the door and into the hotel room itself. Once he closes the door to the bar, he opens it again and the hallway is visible.

There's piano music filtering up from the lobby saloon, conversation. It's a pretty busy hotel, given the sounds.

"C'mon. I know some crap saloons on the far side of town, get a few drinks, see if there ain't anyone we can steal from or somethin'. Before the fightin'."

Will gives him a wild grin and spots a hole,

"This way."

Then he's gone, going so quick that the two men who were both trying to punch him, hit each other.

Sometimes being a good thief can be very useful since in a moment, they're outside and in the shadows between two buildings.

That and the fact that ever saloon has a back door.

Doc's lucky, he didn't get hit in the face, there are a few spots on his ribs that might bug him a bit and he'll have a bruise on his back from the damn chair, but other than that he's just fine.

And laughing, quietly, because that was fun.

Sparring with Atton means Will's good at dodging punches and chairs to the face but he did get slightly scraped.

Will just gives him a grin and pulls the gun from his belt and shows it to Doc,

"Did I steal a good one?"

Doc reaches for the gun and looks it over, then nods. "Yeah, it ain't a .45. Looks to be a .44-40."

Off Will's look, he explains. "Bullets. They're just a hair smaller than the ones mine uses. We can go get you some, m'sure there's a general store open 'round here somewhere. You need a holster, too."

From fighting to shopping, apparently.

"Oh aye, so bit smaller than the one ye use but should do the same sort o'damage?"

He wants to understand this since Doc's good at finding trouble and Will plans on being able to fight beside him here same as Doc's done for him.

[scurlock]

"Yeah, it's minimal, the size. These you can use in both the rifles and the sixes, which is nice. Still knock somebody down if you hit 'em right."

Doc hands it back over after checking the chamber and the rounds.

"And it's loaded, so don't go droppin' it, less you want to lose a foot or somethin'," he quips.

"But isna goin' to fire 'less I cock it back, aye?"

Will puts it carefully in his belt and looks over to Doc wondering what's next as there's a shot from the Bar. Then someone gets flung out of the front door,

"Probably should be leavin'."

[scurlock]

"Right, but if you drop it and the pin hits the cap hard enough, it'll go off sometimes."

Not that Doc's done that and scared the hell out of himself, ever. Nope. He puts an arm around Will's shoulders to steer them back down this alley and onto the next street.

It's almost like a maze of clapboard buildings, worn and weathered, some with fresh paint the closer they get into the 'respectable' side of town. Once they do, Doc leads the way into one of the general stores.

"You can look around," he says, with a shrug. "I'm gonna ask him 'bout bullets."

Will nods and starts looking around, pulling his hat back up and nodding politely to anyone else in there.

He's always amazed how you can buy so many types of things in one place.

There are some people, still, since it's only late evening and this town stays 'open' pretty late. All sorts of things line the shelves, tins of food and flour and sugar, bolts of cloth and odds and ends, and a good section of candy as well.

Doc ends up with a cloth sack with a few boxes of cartridges (both calibers), cigarettes, more beef jerky for himself and another good amount for Will and his men, as well as a holster that will fit. It's used, worn leather but Doc's pretty sure Will won't give a damn.

He spots him looking at the candy.

"Y'can git a bag of it if you want," he adds.

"Mm, oh aye."

Just so many kinds, its really almost unfair,

"Which ones are tastiest?"

[scurlock]

"Well..."

He wanders over and points out the different flavors of the hard candy, some like berry and others like rootbeer, some plain sugar and others like citrus.

There are a lot, and Doc ends up with a bag of variety himself in addition to Will's.

Will just grins at Doc,

"Are we all set then?"

His bruises are starting to hurt a bit,

"Think I could do with 'nother drink."

[scurlock]

Doc hands over the holster. "Put that on and carry that Colt proper, an' we'll be set," he says, before he pays for the items and thanks the owner with a polite farewell.

It helps to make friends in small towns like this.

With a quick look to how Doc wears his, Will puts on the holster and stands a bit straighter, doesn't feel right not having a weight at his side,

"Thank ye."

He also gives the owner a nod and thank you as he helps Doc carry things.

[scurlock]

"Soon 'nough I'll be good at shootin' with a bow and fightin' with a sword, and you'll be good at the quick draw," he quips.

It's not far to another saloon, where they can have a drink and not start fights this time.

"Oh aye, need to 'ave good friends at yer side. Ye 'member can ask for aid when ye need it."

Then he follows Doc in and since he got some coin of this era from Bar, buys their first round.

Which Doc appreciates, since the combination of bullets, cigarettes, holster, candy, and jerky left him with not too much left.

"I know I can count on you to help, Will. I ain't gonna be stupid and git myself into trouble alone, again."

[will_scarlett]

"Ye'd better na, got too many scars tween us."

[scurlock]

"Swear it."

Doc lifts the whiskey and then toasts him with it, before he drinks.

[will_scarlett]

Will grins and clinks his glass before downing the whiskey and getting some more. Its good whiskey and soon they're singing along with the piano player.

Since 'shots' are acceptable payment for shots, Doc has plenty of bullets, and eventually ends up paying for the whiskey with those, until he knows he's had enough.

He's not completely drunk, but he would like to find his way back to his hotel in one piece.

They can rest on each other, that's what friends are for,

"Be walkin', goin' to get yelled at."

[scurlock]

"We ain't bleedin'," Doc points out. "I ain't shot, and we ain't that drunk."

When they do get up, Doc makes certain they have all their things before he puts his hat back on his head.

[will_scarlett]

"Nay, we're na. One o'those songs in there might make 'em 'appier too."

Will starts singing as he opens the door.
