OOM : Doc's room at Milliways
After Will asks Bar for help explaining his home to Doc and getting the note and food from the Bar, Doc and Will head upstairs to room 25.
Doc's room isn't really that big, with a bed up against one wall and a small table beside it, stacked with a few dog-eared books, topics spanning from poetry, swordfighting, more poetry, and a book of plays.
There is a dresser with a mirror leaning against the wall, and on it are two small folded paper cranes that he took off the bar one day when there were so many, a brown one and a pink one, as well as a thin tin box for his cigarettes, and the stockline record, leather bound sits next to it as well. A corner of the room has several crates that Will will recognize as the bits of wreckage and bottles of rum from the Pearl stacked up neatly. There's a chair by the wall as well and an oil lamp, a pair of eyeglasses sitting next to another small stack of books, but what makes Doc stop and stare is the strange, flat...thing that is now on a small stand against the far wall.
(It's a plasma TV. He has no idea what a plasma TV is, or what that strange thing with the buttons on it is either. All he knows is that he's carrying another strange metal box in his hands and a smaller, more flexible plastic box, and a note from Bar with instructions of a sort. Will, is carrying a pizza and a helpfully packaged six-pack of beer.)
"Well that wasn't there before."

"Well that wasn't there before."

"What did the note say to do?"
no subject
A glance.
"I am assumin' that's the TV."

Doc scratches the back of his neck and lifts the 'player' up, looking at it, and the cord that is dangling off the back.
Yeah.
He's confused.
no subject
"What's this thing 'angin' off the back for an what's a phonograph?"
no subject
Then he thinks.
"Well the telegraph...has wires to send the morse code. So maybe...this sends...somethin' to the TV?"
no subject
"Oh aye, so need to look for the 'ole it goes into then."
no subject
"Why're there different colors. Why can't y'just plug the damn thing in and make it play or whatever it's supposed t'do."
Another moment's thought, before he sets the player down and goes to open two beers. This calls for a drink. Nevermind they haven't even plugged it in yet.
no subject
Now the cords are nice and new but the white and the yellow really look rather alike so he plugs them in and nothing happens,
"Looks like that should work. Is it doin' anythin'?"
Ooh, beer, that's a good distraction from the weird cords.
no subject
"No. It's still blank."
He sets a beer down next to Will and then grabs the better instructions, sits on the end of the bed and looks at them. "Unpack player...check for any missing parts...let's see..."
He scans along the paper for 'setting the damn thing up'.
"Plug the red, white, and yellow AV cords into the matching jacks on your TV."
no subject
A good swig of beer as the jacks as scanned again and then switched so they're in their proper hole,
"Does that do anythin'?"
no subject
Blink.
"What the hell's a remote."
A quick scan of the paper and the parts list and he finally grabs the handheld thing off the top of the TV and eyes all the buttons, finds the red one marked 'power' and presses it.
"Well at least the screen's blue now."
no subject
"Is it supposed to be doin' that, just get all full o'color that way?"
no subject
Doc looks at the instructions and takes a drink of the beer. "Now we're supposed to put the disc in the player." He eyes the drawing and then eyes the player, then the little box. Yeah. No idea.
He picks up the little box and shakes it. "Where're we supposed to stick this."
no subject
Will takes another drink of beer and then takes the little box, fiddling with it until it suddenly pops open and the disc is there and spinning,
"Bloody 'ell, what's that?"
no subject
Doc reaches for the box and then removes the disc, then holds it in his hand. Then looks at the player. "Jus'...git it in there somehow."
He tries putting it in but nothing happens, he accidentally hits the 'eject' button and with a whirr the machine spits out the tray and it makes him jump a little.
no subject
"Right, its in, so should be doin' things then."
no subject
The tray goes into the machine and there's another whirring noise, and then a disc pops up on the screen and rotates.
"Well now it's..."
The screen goes black.
"...oops?"
no subject
Another sip of beer as Will goes to investigate the pizza, either it'll work or not, but Doc seems to know more sort of.
no subject
"I think...maybe it's workin'."
A beat.
"Y'really dress like that? And...'Dragonheart'."
no subject
"Does look a bit like 'ome, but tis rather clean an 'e shouldna be able to wear blue, too 'xpensive."
no subject
no subject
"Only nobles are supposed to wear certain colors, too 'xpensive for the rest o'us, 'specially purple."
Will's sitting down and going after the pizza since it seems to be doing things.
no subject
Doc eyes the pizza and then wanders over to grab a slice, jumping when the movie starts playing the opening scene.
no subject
Will's found a place to sit and the pizza is still warm as the credits start, this is all very odd.
